Mumbai, June 29, 2015: VIBGYOR High Model United Nations (VHMUN), an initiative by
VIBGYOR HIGH Group of schools, India is one of the biggest and fastest growing Model United
Nations in India, launched in June 2011. VHMUN has played a vital role to inspire the youth and
get connected with the issues of global importance. It has given them an opportunity to polish
their social skills and channel their voices. At VHMUN, Delegates – the representatives from
different countries, step into the shoes of international diplomats and discuss issues that
demand global attention.

The fifth edition of VHMUN kick started its 5th annual conference in The Westin hotel of
Goregaon East from 25th June 2015 to 27th June 2015. Mr. Rohit Bansal, Group Head,
Corporate Communication, Reliance Industries Ltd. was present as the Chief Guest and Keynote
speaker at the event while Ms Maria Davydenko, Vice Consul, US Consulate General, Mumbai
was the Speaker at the closing ceremony. Besides, Ms. Priyanka Chaturvedi, National
Spokesperson, Indian National Congress was also present at the event. There were more than
400 delegates from Mumbai and all over India; Delegates from New Zealand and US were also
present at the conference.

During the conference, Mr. Rohit Bansal, Group Head, Corporate Communication, Reliance
Industries Ltd. said that, “I am extremely privileged to be a part of VHMUN 5 where the goal is
to empower individual students anywhere in the world to act as leaders. I am sure that such an
universal platform will help students to network on an international scale and build contacts in
the process.”

At the occasion, Mr. Rustom Kerawalla, Chairman and Managing Director of VIBGYOR High
Group of Schools adds, “The VIBGYOR High Group of International Schools has gone beyond the
system of conventional education and has taken up the challenge to provide quality education
to students through novel methodologies. With platforms like Vibgyor High Model United
Nations, we strive to provide students with a better understanding of the inner working of the
United Nations and to foster skills in diplomacy and global peace and harmony.”
There were 6 Committees present at VHMUN including the United Nations Special Summit
(UNSS), Disarmament and Security Council (DISEC), Special Political and Decolonization
(SPECPOL), Human Rights Council (HRC), Historical Security Council (HSC) and Security Council
(SC). This year 6 VIBGYOR schools across 4 states of India and delegations from more than 30
Schools from all over the country had participated in VHMUN 5. The glittering venue was filled
and enlighten with Secretariat and Executive Board from different prestigious schools and
colleges (VIBGYOR HIGH, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Bombay Scottish, University
of Toronto and a few more) with a combined experience of chairing more than a 100 local,
national and international MUNs.

 VIBGYOR High group of schools, a leading chain of schools in India has received “K-12 school

chain of the year” in west zone and “Best sport empowerment” awards at the 5th annual Indian

Education Congress 2015, convention held yesterday in New Delhi. These are one of the most

prestigious awards from various other categories that recognize excellence in education sector.

K-12 Education Awards are given to the schools as an expression of gratitude for their

extraordinary contribution in the Indian education sector. K-12 school chain of the year award

aims to recognize a significant contribution by K12 chain of schools that has engraved

exceptional education quality in all its schools by maintaining uniformity in education delivery.

The best sport empowerment award recognizes the schools that have developed opportunities

for sports empowerment with an extensive participation & achievements in sports and other

physical activities.

 Upon receiving the awards, Mr. Rustom Kerawalla – Chairman and Managing Director,

·         Yash Joshi achieved first rank at the international level in the National Science Olympiad examination
·         Also ranked first at the state level based on cumulative marks in all Olympiad examinations
·         Honored with Gold Medal and Cash Prize of Rs. 50,000/-

India, June 1, 2015: Yash Joshi, a student of Grade 3 from VIBGYOR High, Balewadi was felicitated in New Delhi on May 31, 2015 for achieving First Rank at the International level in the 17th National Science Olympiad (NSO) in the academic year 2014-15. Guest of Honor, Padma Shree Prof YS Rajan Chairman, NIT Manipur & Hon’ble Distinguished Prof. at ISRO awarded Yash Joshi with a cash prize of Rs.50,000 along with a Gold Medal,  Merit Certificate and a Gift voucher worth Rs. 1,000/-.

Besides, Padma Shree Prof YS Rajan, Chief Guest, Hon’ble Justice Mr. Deepak Verma, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India with Guest of Honor and Mr. Michael Gordon, Teaching Centre Manager, India, British Council were also present to grace the occasion.

During the felicitation Yash Joshi said, “I am honored for an appreciation at such a grand scale. Everything is very new and exciting for me over here. I never thought in my dreams that I can achieve this level of success in my life. I have to give credit to my school, teachers, parents and grandparents who were always there to teach me, clear doubts and encourage me throughout.

Yash is also entitled for SOF’s Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) award for securing first rank at the State level, based on the cumulative marks obtained. These marks are calculated considering the best of 3 out of 4 examinations – National Science Olympiad, National Cyber Olympiad, International Mathematics Olympiad, and International English Olympiad. He will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 along with a trophy and certificate for the same.
