ACTIVITIES IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
FIELD TRIP OF OLD AGE ROOM
On 2.9.11 students of Gr.2 went to old age home .This trip was planned to empathize with the elderly people and sensitize towards senior citizen. The students were excited to interact with the elderly people and mingled with them very easily. They narrated different poems and answered their queries very confidently. They were mesmerized to know that the elderly people are leading such disciplined and active life. The students experienced that elderly people were full of warmth and brimming with ideas and what is there contribution to the society.
ACTIVITIES IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST
FIELD TRIP REPORT
On 24.8.11 students of Gr.6 went to Science center as an extension to the Unit-Simple Machines.Students were very excited to see different kinds of machines which work according to simple concepts ofphysics to make our life comfortable. The students enhanced their knowledge on the working of levers, pulley, inclined plane,etc.and related them from examples of day to day usage. It was an exiting experience for them to see 3D movie and using different machines for experimenting the skills which they have learnt theoritically.
FIELD TRIP TO TRANSPORT MUSEUM
As an extension to the unit’ Means of Transport’ students of Gr.5 went to Transport Museum on 9.8.11 to enhance their knowledge on various types of vehicles. The students got an opportunity to observe different types of vehicles according to their capacity and region where they can be used,. They saw different specifications which can demarcate the vehicle as light weight vehicles and heavy weight vehicles .The students enhanced their knowledge on different vehicles used by the military with transmitters, bullet proof windows etc.The students observed the different means of transport used by public for commuting from one place to other.
FIELD TRIP TO ZOO
On 30.8.11 students of Gr.4 went to Zoo as an extension to the Unit-Wild Life Sanctuaries. Students saw different kinds of animals and birds living in different adaptations. The students enriched their knowledge on the feeding habits of animals and types of foods which are provided to them. As they saw boards of different people who have adopted animals ,they came to know that it was another way of preservation of animals. The students were motivated for caring the animals and encouraging others too for the same.
CULMINATING ACTIVITY OF GR.6
On 25.8.11 Gr.6 conducted the culminating activity after the completion of Term I. The students showcased their learning through presentation on different topics in History& Civics,Comp[uter And Sc.The parents acknowledged the work of their wards and interacted with the teacher to solve the queries. The students presented different projects and activities completed during the term.
CULMINATING ACTIVITY OF GR.5
On 18.8.11 students of Gr.5 conducted the culminating activity after the completion of Phase. The students actively participated in the activity and the parents were also very keen to observe the activities done by their wards. In Social studies the student described the Fundamental Rights and Duties through a Power Point presentation. Student showcased his knowledge on Interdependence of plants and living beings through a presentation and sang a song on Photosynthesis. Students depicted the Importance of Technology in our daily life.In the end the parents saw the work done by the students during the entire term
Field Trip to Village
On 16.8.11 students of Gr.3 went to a village as extension to the Unit-Local Administrator. The students were given first hand experience on Village Panchayat ,officials of panchayat and their working. This trip enhanced their knowledge on the living pattern of people and their occupation .We all live a luxurious life in city, but the people in villages are far away from these facilities. Students realized the hardships which are experienced by the villagers .The students met the children in Anganwadi and experienced the resources available to them.
Field Trip to Vegetable market
On 17.8.11 students of Gr.1 went to vegetable market as an extension to the unit-The students extended their knowledge on different types of vegetables and fruits and their nutritive values.Students interacted with the vendors to enhance their knowledge on availability of different vegetables and fruits in different seasons, the sources from where they bring the vegetables and criteria of selecting the vegetables. The students were enriched with the knowledge of healthy diet and the importance of vegetables and fruits in the daily diet. The students interacted with the sellers to enhance their knowledge on marketing strategy followed in bringing of fruits and vegetables to the buyer.
Activities from 2nd May to 7th May
To give children a brief insight of functioning of a post office.
The students of Class- Grade 1were taken on a field trip to the post office on 3rd May 11 at 11.25am, they were shown the various types of stamps and envelop. They met the post master who briefed them sorting of letters. Later the students posted letters to their parents to experience the importance of post office as the means of communication. Learning outcome from the visit was a very enriching trip and the students realized that no work is possible if we don’t have helping hands to help us in our daily lives.
