At VIBGYOR High we offer the nationally established CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) curriculum to our students. In keeping with the objectives of the board, VIBGYOR is making commendable effort for a more meaningful, relevant and life oriented education through its curriculum.
The core curriculum in our primary and middle school includes the best of every board thus giving a competitive edge to our young learners. Here, the learning objectives of the CBSE board merge with the VIBGYOR philosophy focusing on our students and their learning needs. The uniqueness of this course lies in its flexibility to upgrade with the changes in the field of education.
CBSE has regularly brought in reforms in examinations and evaluation practices- recent being the Graded system of evaluation. As per the board guidelines, the prime focus of our curriculum is on innovations in teaching-learning methodologies by devising student friendly and student centred paradigms. The continuous and comprehensive assessment system at VIBGYOR does not suffocate our children. Our stress free assessment tools value their creativity and assesses the cognitive skills of the young learners. VIBGYOR has integrated skill learning by adding job-oriented and job-linked inputs in its curriculum. Our teachers regularly update their pedagogical skills attending service training programmes and workshops.
The CBSE curriculum at VIBGYOR is divided into the Primary Level (Grades 1 to 4) and Secondary Level (Grades 5 to 10). Both the levels are based on Integrated Curriculum, Interdisciplinary Approach, Experiential Learning, Research Work and Professional Talk.
In the Primary and Secondary levels students are encouraged to explore the relationship between concepts from different subject areas. They learn to analyse how the topic extends beyond the classroom into the outside world. The Interdisciplinary approach dissolves boundaries of subjects encouraging learning across the curriculum amongst our young learners. We develop a plan where the theme encompasses all curricular areas. In this way, subjects like Math, English, Social Studies and Science are integrated and taught together focussing on a specific issue instead of in isolation. This foster’s higher-ordered thinking skills in our young geniuses by focussing on their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Curriculum innovation and curriculum development has been a major concern of the school. Keeping in mind the pedagogical needs of our students, VIBGYOR High has come up with the Home notes and Synopsis materials for Grades 1 to 7. These unique academic resource materials have been exclusively prepared by the school for our children. The board objectives, learning needs, abilities and interest of the students are taken into consideration while preparing these study materials.
For the Senior Secondary classes i.e. Grades 8 to 10, the school offers CBSE recommended School Books and study materials for our students. The supplementary books and sample question papers can be availed by our students for greater success in examinations conducted by the board. The activity based flexible curriculum and the various teaching aids and strategies used by our school facilitate a rich learning experience for the young geniuses.
