SPA (Sports & the Performing Arts) curriculum integrated with in-classroom learning
Keeping in view the school's philosophy of 'holistic development', the academic development of the child is counterbalanced with an enriching SPA programme.
The essence of the programme is to:
- Introduce the child to education beyond the classroom through Indoor Sports, Outdoor Sports, and Performing Arts Activities.
- Expose the child to varied sports facilitating the development of kinaesthetic and spatial skills.
- Identify the inherent capability of the child in selected sports and provide specialized training in those areas.
- Provide a platform for the child to excel in a Sport/Performing Arts activity and represent the school in inter-school and state-level competitions.
VIBGYOR High is one of the few schools in the country which has a structured curriculum for Sports & the Performing Arts that includes in-class & out-of-class experiences.
We believe that just as a child needs theoretical knowledge & practice to excel in any academic subject, in Sports/Performing Arts too, the child should have a balanced curriculum, which spans both theory & practice.
Sports
Detailed insight is given in each sporting activity with respect to:
- On-field practice.
- AV exposure to Animated and Live Matches.
- Access to Sport-related books in the Library.
- Visits to stadiums.
- Provision of suitable and motivating Holiday Reading Material.
- Certification
- Special emphasis on inculcating team spirit, positive competitive spirit and leadership skills that lead to character-building.
Performing Arts
Dance and Theatre are not only integrated as part of the curriculum but are also used as media of self-expression and to enhance extrovert behavioural patterns.
Yoga is another activity that enriches the child's development by keeping the body and mind healthy. Not only does it allow better flexibility and coordination but helps in improving concentration and academic-related skills.
The overall objective of exposure to multiple sports, is to identify each child's forte and provide help to achieve a high level of performance. |
