Fieldtrip to a Farm

With the beautiful landscape around the school, a Fieldtrip to a farm was conducted for the students of Grade 4 on 10th July. The students were taken to a nearby farm where they observed the texture of the soil and noted down their observations. The teacher had already taught them about the different types of soil thus, the fieldtrip proved to be very informative as the children got an opportunity of hands-on experience.

Dental Camp

The Dental Camp held by the school on 27th July was a great success. The dental check-up gave the parents of the students an opportunity to look into the immediate dental concerns of their wards. A team of doctors led by Dr. Shraddha Vajramushti conducted a presentation to bring about awareness in the students about dental health in general. The students found the presentation very informative.

Community Helpers

On 29th July Grade 1 students learnt about Community Helpers through an informative activity. They realised that a number of community helpers are involved in daily life in society and they also understood the idea of interdependency among members of society. This also made them understand the importance of living in harmony.

Interschool Drawing Competition (7th August, 2010)

This was the very first Interschool Competition conducted by our school in association with Faber- Castell. The entire school came together to put in their collective effort to make this event a grand success. A number of English Medium schools in the city participated enthusiastically in this event. Competing with students of the other schools was a great learning experience for our students.

Environment Week Celebration ‘Each one plant one’ (19th - 23rd July)

Environment Week was celebrated from 19th to 23rd July. The entire week was full of events. Various events, like paper bag making, coloring the picture, slogan writing, cleanliness drive, plantation ceremony and visit to a nursery were organized. The students participated in these with great enthusiasm. On the day of the closing ceremony, the students participated enthusiastically in activities like fancy dress competition, dance and skit. The guest for the day was Mr. Vasant Tukaram Ghule, Sub. DFO Kolhapur. The week concluded with the planting of saplings in the school premises. The Environment Week was observed very dedicatedly by the students with a promise of safeguarding their environment in the future.

Investiture Ceremony (20th July)

The Investiture Ceremony, conducted on 20th July, was a solemn occasion. The students were very finely trained by the SPA in-charge for the march past. They marched elegantly and followed the commands of the chosen President of the school. This was followed by the oath taking. The council members were presented with sashes, badges, flags, and were administered the oath of office by the Principal Mr. T. Balan. It was a spectacular sight to watch the young children take each and every part of this ritual seriously and follow it responsibly.

ACTIVITIES From June 5th - 14th ' 2010

INAUGURAL FUNCTION (14th June)

The Inaugural Day of VIBGYOR High International School, Kolhapur was the most exciting and eagerly awaited day for many. The Inauguration was held on 14th June, 2010 at 9.30 a.m. The Chief Guest for the function was the Superintendent of Police of Kolhapur, Mr. Yashasvi Yadav (IPS). The Principal Mr. T. Balan’s speech evoked confidence and promised guidance for the staff. Ms. Kavita Sahay, Director, HR, Schools & Academics enthused the teachers by her presence. Mr. Yashasvi Yadav’s encouraging words also assured the parents that they had made the right choice by enrolling their children in the nurturing environment of VIBGYOR High International School. The teachers carried the same enthusiasm back to their classes where they spent time getting acquainted with their students.

Coffee Meet  (7th June)

The Coffee Meet held on 7th of June 2010 was the perfect occasion for the parents to get a glimpse of the pattern in which the school would function during the academic year. This programme was conducted by Ms. Anchal Vasandani who visited the Kolhapur Centre especially for this event. Ms. Vasandani used a PPT to explain the plan of action for the forthcoming academic session. The PPT also acquainted the parents with the various activities and curriculum planning scheduled for the academic year 2010-11. The teachers were introduced to the parents. The Coffee Meet was a great success since all the queries of the parents were answered and their doubts were clarified.

Teachers’ Induction Programme  (Nursery Children : 5th June, 2010)

 The Teachers’ Induction Programme of VIBGYOR High International School was held on 5th June, 2010. This programme was conducted by Ms. Shalini Sateesh. They were the first batch of teachers of the Kolhapur Centre and so were understandably apprehensive yet enthusiastic. The teachers listened attentively as the ‘Vision’, ‘Mission’ and ‘Policies’ of VIBGYOR High International, its pedagogy and its methodology were spelt out for their edification   By the end of the induction programme the teachers understood the significance of their role and responsibility in a renowned institution like VIBGYOR High International School.
